Emma Chamberlain's Beverly Hills Villa: A Look Inside the Social Media Star's First Home

Emma Chamberlain is a name that has become synonymous with the new wave of internet celebrity. Rising to fame at just 16, she quickly captured the hearts of millions with her candid, quirky YouTube videos. By the time she was old enough to vote, she had already been named 'the funniest person on YouTube' by The New York Times and listed among Time Magazine's 25 most influential people on the internet in 2019. Today, at 21, she is not just a content creator but a podcast host, entrepreneur, and brand ambassador for luxury houses like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, and Levi's. Her latest milestone? Buying and decorating her first home in the prestigious Beverly Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles.

A First Home with a Story

The house, built in 1955, is a cedar-shingle cottage that blends Northern California hippie modernism with a touch of old-fashioned Adirondack charm. It's not a sprawling mansion but a cozy retreat that reflects Chamberlain's down-to-earth personality. 'I work from home, so I wanted something personal and comfortable,' she says. Working with interior designers Ashley Drost and Marie Trohman of Proem Studio, Chamberlain turned the house into a three-dimensional expression of her spontaneous, curious nature. The design process was a collaboration that embraced the unexpected. 'It wasn't about following rules or sticking to a specific aesthetic,' she explains. 'I tried to approach it with lightness and openness.'

The Design: Eclectic and Personal

The living room is anchored by a rainbow-hued onyx marble coffee table, surrounded by a Stahl + Band sofa, Moving Mountains chairs upholstered in Schumacher fabric, and a vintage Milo Baughman lounger. A painting by Chamberlain's father, Michael, hangs on the wall. The room embodies the 'groovy vintage' vibe that permeates the entire house. In the dining area, a travertine table by Martin Massé is paired with 'Giraffe' chairs by Juliana Lima Vasconcellos, while a Trueing chandelier hangs above. The kitchen is enveloped in soft green, from the front of the cabinets to the tiles.

One of the most striking features is the use of natural, handcrafted materials. Raw copper sheeting, free-form stucco fireplace surrounds, cork-lined walls and ceilings, honey-colored onyx marble slabs, and woven banana-fiber wallpaper in a guest bathroom all contribute to what the designers call 'rustic with a twist.' Chamberlain explains, 'For me, materials should make a statement. I like things that have the strong aura of an art piece.'

The collaborative process was key. Chamberlain, an avid online mood-boarder, scoured Pinterest for inspiration. When the designers brought wild ideas—like a console made of irregularly stacked glass blocks inspired by designer Willi Smith's 1980s office—Chamberlain said, 'Go for it.' That console now sits as a highlight in the home. Another whimsical touch is a clunky vintage TV that has been repurposed as a cat bed. By the pool, simple RH loungers are mixed with corn-on-the-cob-shaped stools from Third Drawer Down.

Career Context: From YouTube Star to Entrepreneur

Chamberlain's journey to homeownership is a testament to her multifaceted career. She launched her YouTube channel in 2017, quickly amassing millions of subscribers with her relatable, often hilarious videos about fashion, lifestyle, and everyday life. Her unique editing style and authentic voice set her apart. In 2019, she launched her podcast, 'Anything Goes,' which has become a top-ranked show. Her coffee brand, Chamberlain Coffee, has expanded globally. She has collaborated with major fashion houses and walked the runway for Louis Vuitton. All of this success at such a young age speaks to her ability to connect with a generation that values transparency and authenticity.

Her home reflects that same ethos. 'I don't really care if others like it,' Chamberlain says. 'I'm the one who lives here, so first and foremost, I have to love it. And I do.' The house is not perfect—and the designers say it will never be—but it has personality and energy. Its imperfections only add to the look they developed together.

A Personal Sanctuary

The outdoor areas are just as thoughtfully designed. Rustic pool baths are lined with stone and cedar wood. The garden features outdoor furniture from RH and concrete mushrooms from Flat Earth Designs. A sitting room boasts a free-form fireplace mantel inspired by the work of ceramist Valentine Schlegel, with a cork ceiling and vintage furnishings. Each room tells a story, blending fifty years of design influences into a cohesive narrative that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

For Chamberlain, this home is more than a residence—it's a reflection of her journey. From a teenager filming in her bedroom to a global influencer owning a piece of Beverly Hills, she has stayed true to her core: honesty, humor, and a willingness to be different. The villa is her sanctuary, a place where she can be exactly who she is.
